Back To Basics Skincare Rosehip Radiance Oil
(Back To Basics Rosehip Radiance Oil, $48)

With three food grade quality oils to choose from, Rosehip Radiance Oil is by far my favorite. After introducing this excellent green beauty oil to my morning skincare regimen, I saw a significant improvement in the first week! Skin suppleness, check— skin hydration, check— overall brighter youthful skin– check and check! The texture of the oil is medium in weight and absorbs quickly. Only 2-3 drops are needed to cover entire face, so the bottle will last. It doesn’t contain any added fragrance or essential oils that can aggravate sensitive skin. With an impressive list of ingredients you can stop stressing and start aging gracefully.

  • Seabuckthorn berry oil: rich in vitamins a, c, and e and omega 7; replenishes and restructures; supports natural cell turnover.
  • Organic Rosehip oil: an excellent source of topical trans-retinoic acid for skin regeneration.
  • Organic Grape seed oil: possesses unique nourishing and repairing properties.
  • Organic Camellia oil: increases the feel of skin’s elasticity and gives it a luminous glow.
  • Organic Chia seed oil: richest botanical source of omega 3; powerful source of alpha-lipoic acid.
  • Jojoba oil: provides emolliency and gives skin a smoother, healthier-looking appearance.
  • Tomato seed oil: rejuvenates aging skin properties, restores skin antioxidant defences, quenches uv induced free radicals, protects against acute and chronic skin photo-damage.
  • Kiwi seed oil: regenerates skin cells and effectively moisturizes and improves skin elasticity, dark marks, dryness and large pores.

Verso Skincare | Day Cream Review

Verso Skincare Retinol 8 Review

(Verso Day Cream, $100)

I’m sure most have heard about the anti-aging benefits of prescription retinoids, retinoic acid AKA Vitamin A, but these are heavy duty anti-agers which often come with unwanted side effects namely skin peeling and flaking (extreme in some cases) and sun sensitivity.

Over-the-counter formulas contain a derivative of retinoic acid/Vitamin A called retinol which is a gentler and more well tolerated by sensitive skin types, but it often takes longer to see results.

There are other weaker versions of retinol which I’ve tried including encapsulated retinol, but my sensitive skin has always rebelled. It has never been able to tolerate any form of retinol, much less prescription strength retinoic acid.

Retinol seems to be a genuine super-ingredient that has been proven to help fine lines and wrinkles, increase collagen production and help the skin to look and feel younger. Verso Skincare is a Stockholm based skincare brand, where Verso is latin and means reverse. The line is based on an active ingredient called Retinol 8, which they say is up to eight times more effective than other over-the-counter retinols.

The cream is lightweight, absorbs quickly, intensive, fast-acting, all while being super gentle on the skin.

The verdict: While it’s pricey ($100) this serum is a good buy for someone with sensitive skin. You most likely won’t get any redness or peeling (I didn’t), and your money will go further in the long run for long-lasting skincare benefits.

Do any of you use retinols, and would you try this one? If it’s too pricey for you, what’s the max you’d spend on a skin care cream?

New In: Beauty \ Charlotte Tilsbury Makeup

Charlotte Tilbury Mini Miracle Eye Wand

Charlotte Tilbury 2
(Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat in Pink Venus, $22 | Charlotte Tilbury Mini Miracle Eye Wand, $45)

As a makeup artist working in the fashion and beauty industry for over 20 years and as a busy professional woman and mother determined to look her best, Charlotte Tilbury uses the incredible trans-formative power of makeup on a daily basis. Being a makeup artist and getting to work with fantastic beauty brands and innovative labs led her to create her own line of products.

Among her bestsellers are lip cheat and the miracle eye wand. Kindly, the girls over at CT sent over two of their products for the girls at Le Petit Mondea to try. One of the editors tried them out, here is what she had to say.

The lip cheat is a velvety lip liner that glides effortlessly over the lips and has the power to completely re-shape, re-size and balance your lips. My lips are paper thin (seriously). I knew the liner wouldn’t magically plump them up like Kylie Kardashian’s pout, but suffice to say the outline of my lips did have more contour and fullness. Plus the color payout was beautiful.

I had high hopes for the miracle eye wand. I’ve heard good reviews about it and was excited to see if it could hide my vampire of the night dark circles. And the claims were true, it’s the exact antidote to tired, dull and exhausted under-eyes. It immediately brightened the contours of underneath my eyes and made me look like I slept a full 8 hours, which doesn’t happen often.  Both products I’m ordering online tonight! Follow Charlotte Tilbury on TwitterFollow Charlotte Tilbury on Facebook

Serums – one of the beauty skincare products that confuses those who haven’t yet delved into the world of serums. When do I use it in my routine? Which serum is right for me? Do I need it? These are all common questions asked by those why haven’t yet incorporated a serum into their beauty routine. But – no matter what your skin type, adding a serum to your skin care routine can be extremely beneficial. Enter Derma E Evenly Radiant Brightening Serum.

An intensive skin-brightening treatment that targets uneven pigmentation and age damage for a visibly brighter complexion. It contains Madonna Lily Plant Stem Cells, Bearberry, Niacinamide, Licorice, Green Tea and C-Ester plus illuminating Alpha-Arbutin to help fight discoloration for more evenly toned, luminous skin. I have been using it for two weeks and have noticed some brightening. It’s non greasy and lightweight, plus it absorbs super quick! But it started to dry my skin out within the first week. I do recommend using a moisturizer over the serum to keep skin hydrated.

If you have never tried a serum before I recommend you try Derma E Evenly Radiant Brightening Serum. It will give results for first time ‘newbie’ skin that needs radiance but might take at least four weeks or more to show results for complexions that exfoliate everyday and keep up with a routine.

New In: Beauty | Patyka

(Patyka Absolis Iris Wood Body Wash, $45)

Back in December I shared my love for the french beauty brand Patyka and once again I would like to share another favorite of mine the Patyka Absolis Iris Wood Body Wash. The scent can be described as “Douce Insouciance” meaning like a smile conveying cheerfulness.

I hear the light laughter of children float through the open windows overlooking the gardens of the Palais Royal…

Under the shower’s rain, the cheerful notes foam up and fly away, I breathe.
In a bath, I let it melt as I slip into the rich water, I forget.

New In: Beauty | Peter Thomas Roth Clinical Skin Care

(Peter Thomas Roth Glycolic 10% Hydrating Gel, $48)

Peter Thomas Roth’s passion for skin care is derived from his quest to find effective products to treat his own personal skin care concerns. Initially his primary issue was acne and as time went on anti-aging issues as well. His interests eventually grew into a desire to find the best tools to combat acne, the many signs of aging, as well as protecting the skin from sun damage. His mission: to combine effective and potent ingredients with advanced technology.

The product line currently consists of a comprehensive range of over 100 products sold world-wide. The Peter Thomas Roth line was created to be customized to an individual’s skin care needs, to cover all skin types and addresses all skin care concerns from head to toe.

I was lucky enough to receive a bottle of the PTR Glycolic Acid 10% Hydrating Gel to try.

What is Glycolic Acid 10% Hydrating Gel you may be asking yourself?

  • A unique blend of alpha hydroxy acids, anti-oxidants and ceramides formulated to replace moisture while increasing cellular turnover.
  • Helps reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and other signs of aging.
  • Helps clarify the skin and smooth out rough texture.
  • pH level 3.0 – 4.0

Who can use Glycolic Acid 10% Hydrating Gel?

  • All skin types, except sensitive.
  • For those who prefer a gel instead of a lotion.

Key Ingredients:

  • 10% Glycolic Acid (AHA) – Removes dead surface skin.
  • Aloe Vera – Soothes and hydrates the skin.
  • Vitamins A, C, E – Protect against free radical damage, nourish and repair.

This is the best glycolic treatment I’ve ever used. If I had to choose one item to use for the rest of my life, it’s this gem. It’s not overly drying and I use this a few nights a week on my off nights from my currect routine. It’s a great value since you only need to use a thin layer and the bottle is pretty good size. It keeps me clear and acne free. So if you’re acne prone and don’t get results with the typical BHA products, give this AHA product a try.
