A New Rose Fragrance That’s Anything But ‘Grandma’ | Ellis Brooklyn

Ellis Brooklyn Rrose Fragrance

(Ellis Brooklyn Rrose Eau De Parfum, $100)

Ellis Brooklyn is a line of fragrances in the form of body lotions, created by New York Times beauty columnist Bee Shapiro. I was intrigued as soon as I heard about them because the scents were developed with famous “nose” Jerome Epinette – the perfumer behind my all-time favorite Byredo perfumes. Ellis Brooklyn marries natural, artisanal formulas with the finest French fragrances.

Rrose is a fresh and dewy rose scent with petals of centifolia roses that sparkle with a peony bouquet and Sicilian lemon, all above a seductive base of spring musks and cashmere woods dry down.

Rrose has moderate sillage and above-average staying power. There’s nothing to dislike about Rrose, and if you’re a fan of fragrances like Jo Malone Peony & Blush Suede and you want something longer-lasting, this could be worth a sniff. It’s feminine and romantic without being cloying and sweet. And Rrose does not contain parabens, phthalates and the cap is biodegradable and contains no petrochemicals, so that’s a definite plus!

Remember in junior high when a new Bath & Body Works body lotion scent would come out and you would have to run out and try it? That’s what Ellis Brooklyn has done with the Excellent Body Milks. These body milks are not your average scented body lotions: they’re luxury fragrances combined with a natural, elegant lotion. Infused with organic aloe leaf juice to soothe and calm, and organic oils like sunflower, coconut, and jojoba to nourish and moisturize, they leave your skin soft and hydrated – not to mention smelling divine.

If you’re wondering, what the hell is a body milk?, you know, versus say the traditional lotion or cream or butter, it’s a lightweight, non-greasy formula that melts straight into your skin. Meaning, you don’t have to rub for days for the product to be absorbed. The Rrose Body Milk has the same great fragrance as the Rrose Eau De Parfum, and it makes it perfect for layering in the morning to keep the fragrance lasting all night.

Fragrance Spotlight: Viva La Juicy Sucré

Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy Sucre Review

(Viva La Juicy Sucré Eau de Parfum Spray, 3.4 oz, $96)

There is a new fragrance that’s hit the shelves from Juicy Couture and it’s their most openly gourmand fragrance to date: Viva La Juicy Sucré; “sucré” means « sweetened » in French…

” Sumptuous and feminine, the mouthwatering fragrance tempts even the most disciplined to live in the moment. Deny yourself nothing. “

The gourmand fruity-floral has top notes of Brazilian gardenia, mandarin and red currant; the scent segues into a heart of orange blossom, jasmine flower, peach nectar and almond cream; the base is rich like cake, batter, with notes of cocoa bean, sandalwood, whipped cream and vanilla extract.

To entice your tastebuds visually, the design of the flacon takes inspiration from a cupcake. If you ever dreamt of inhaling a pastry instead of eating it, here’s another opportunity to do it, guilt-free.

The wear is quite good at around 5 hours with a nice linger and a little bit of a mellowing of the fragrance as at around hour four it loses some of it’s initial sweetness and gives way to more vanilla.

If Viva la Juicy isn’t sweet enough for you I doubt Sucre will disappoint. This takes sugar and sweetness to a way higher level. The scent is girlish, youthful, with plenty of cuteness thrown in.

And if you start to feel a little guilty for shelling out for that extravagant perfume you’ve had your eye on, there is a legitimate reason to back up that purchase.

For one thing, unlike most beauty products, perfumes don’t really have an expiration date (barring how quickly you go through a bottle, of course). Just be sure to store scents in cabinets away from direct exposure to sunlight or humid environments.

It’s Not The 60’s But It Sure Feels That Way?

Province Apothecary Lavender Essential Oil Incense

(Province Apothecary Lavender Incense, $16)

When you hear the word incense, some may instantly associate the word with “hippy”, as the air was thick in 1960 with free-flowing incense and any other popular mood enhancing medley or concoction, I’m guessing. In today’s culture incense is often used in religious ceremonies and for recreational purposes like filling up yoga studio rooms. Burning incense is a peaceful act, and provides a relaxing environment unless you 1. have a headache, or 2. hate smoke. But at the end of a bad day at least you can light your incense and make the room smell fanfrickingtastic!

Province Apothecary Lavender Incense
(Province Apothecary Lavender Incense, $16)
This particular incense is a little different from the rest. Immediately opening from the package it packs a powerful punch of intense natural, real essential oil lavender. I pictured myself like I usually do(in my dreams of course) walking through a huge field of deep purple lavender in Provence France, and it’s about 65-70 degrees and I’m wearing a nice white dress.. oh sorry, I digress. The scent is calming and relaxing.
Province Apothecary infuse charcoal incense by hand with wild-crafted essential oils to bring you effortless aromatherapy for your everyday spaces. Each package contains 20 sticks. They also infuse their incense with pure therapeutic essential oils, no nasty + toxic fragrance oils. Go. Get. Yours. Now.
