Today we are revisiting two old favorites with newly re-designed and re-packaged squalane oil favorites of ours. First what is squalane? The key to squalane’s topical skincare success is that its molecular structure resembles our own skin’s design. The similarity allows it to penetrate the skin completely and synthesize quickly (2mm per second), so it won’t clog pores or leave a greasy residue behind. It’s also odorless and colorless, which are great properties of a moisturizer. Plus it has a shelf life of over two years.
- It’s safe for all skin types, even the most sensitive.
- It can be used on body, even in hair.
- It’s consistency is thin and lightweight.
- Paraben free
- Phthalate free
- Mineral oil-free
What you really want to know, is this the elixir of life? Can it replace all of my current serums, lotions, creams, magical potions? Yes and no. It will moisturize, if not better than your current moisturizer or oil routine. There are recent studies underway proving how effective Squalane may be as an anti-aging ingredient. Because it penetrates deeply, it may help to lessen the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Studies show it can stimulate cell turnover similar to Argan oil. Biossance adds the collagen enhancing benefits of oil soluble vitamin C to brighten and fight free radicals to their Squalane + Vitamin C Rose Oil. If that isn’t a miracle elixir, I don’t what is.
And feel good knowing that since up to 60% of what you put on your body can be absorbed into your bloodstream, squalane also plays an important role in your overall health and well-being. Early studies have shown that increased intake, via ingestion of squalane has helped lower the risk of breast cancer and pancreatic cancer. Squalane has also been reported to lower cholesterol levels, protect against the common cold, improve blood circulation and the appearance of varicose veins, and increase overall natural energy. So I’m calling it, the elixir.
